User identification

Users of the site are not currently identified unless they have submitted information through a cookie (see Use of Cookies below). The Welsh Archaeological Trusts do not store or use this information in anyway. Use of Cookies

A cookie, also known as an HTTP cookie, web cookie, or browser cookie, is a piece of data stored by a website within a browser, and then subsequently sent back to the same website by the browser. Cookies were designed to be a reliable mechanism for websites to remember things that a browser had done there in the past, which can include having clicked particular buttons, logging in, or having read pages on that site months or years ago.

Cookies can store a wide range of information, including personally identifiable information (such as your name, home address, e-mail address, or telephone number). However, this information can only be stored if you provide it - websites cannot gain access to information you didn't provide to them, and they can't access other files on your computer.

The majority of internet browsers will provide an option to disallow cookies. You can usually find how to do this in the help menu for your browser. Cookies can also be deleted by using your internet browser, but you must disallow them otherwise they will be reapplied the next time you visit a website.

The Welsh Archaeological Trusts only gather information that does not identify you (e.g. a visitor's behaviour patterns when they visit our website). This is collected on our behalf in order to evaluate our site and ensure that our site and services run properly.
